 Bilingual Legal Administrative Assistant needed for  Downtown Houston -  $15.00 / hr. 

Position Description – This is a hybrid position that includes administrative coordinating/ paralegal /and advocacy responsibilities. The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the legal services provided to protective order applicants in and outside of protective order court and will support one (1) designated Protective Order Attorney. Protective order applicants are victims of family violence and are often in need of trauma-informed care and sustained advocacy. So, in addition to their administrative duties, they will also serve as victim advocates responsible for coordinating victim service delivery once an applicant has applied for a protective order and through the case’s final disposition.

  • Prepare witness subpoenas on all protective order cases.
  • Coordinate appearance of witnesses and place them “on call.”
  • Coordinate and schedule translators as needed in advance of hearing.
  • Schedule witness meetings with Applicants to meet w/ ADA’s on contested hearings.
  • Request the following CASE EVIDENCE for assigned Protective Order prosecutor and upload to Ecase:
  • Offense reports from out of county police agencies;
  • Photos from police agencies;
  • CPS family/safety plans;
  • Certified orders from DEEDS (Previous PO, Attorney General/child support orders, divorce/custody decrees);
  • Certified orders from other counties (Previous PO, Attorney General/child support orders, divorce /custody decrees).
  • Provide daily reminders to applicants reminding them of service of the respondent and to attend court.
  • Follow-up with complainants regarding any questions or additional information needed by the protective order attorneys.
  • Maintain protective order case files with additional information obtained after initial interview i.e.:
  • New e-mails from C/W;
  • CPS safety plans;
  • Pull and add new offense reports; and
  • Conduct updated criminal history check for Applicant and Respondent before hearing date.
  • Generate protective order files and e-file documents when Admin. Asst. is unavailable.
  • Notarize affidavits for caseworkers.

Education, Experience, Training Requirements:

Bilingual in English and Spanish needed. High school education required. Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred. Paralegal certification a plus. Ability to multi-task, excellent administrative and clerical skills. Demonstrates sensitivity required to support victims of family violence in a trauma-informed way. Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.

  • Conduct assessments, readiness assessments, and provide patient medication education for successful adherence.
  • Refer and follow-up with patients on status of medical appointments.

  • Serve as a liaison and assist in coordination between medical staff and patient.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Develop service plan for each patient.
  • Transition clients out of medical case management services upon completion of service plan and medical stabilization.


  • Masters Degree in Social Work from an Accredited University or College.
  • Licensed Social Worker in the State of Texas.
  • Social Work Experience Minimum 2 years paid or proven volunteer experience in case management field.
  • Experience working in primary care or family practice setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented and organized.
  • Self- motivated, ability to work independently
  • Strong professional ethics and boundaries
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
