Job Duties: 

Ability to work well with the public and staff members
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, climb ladders, stairs, drive and flag traffic for an extended period of time for special events
Adequate physical stamina and ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Ability to work in inclement weather and confined areas
Ability to rake, shovel, dig, cut, clear, and or hand clear an area
Ability to work around heavy equipment
Ability to maintain and operate light equipment (chainsaws, pole saws, mowers, mechanical cutters, drive a typical pickup-automatic/standard)
Perform daily maintenance of assigned equipment
Ability to handle materials (mulch, dirt, gravel, cleaners, asphalt, oils, etc.)
Pick up trash and litter, empty trash cans, maintain & clean restrooms and various park buildings
Prepare parks and pavilions for events (set up, clean & take down chairs & tables)
Possibly participate in Inmate and Community Service Program (monitoring work details as assigned)
Perform all jobs in a safe and timely manner
Arrive to work on time
Perform other duties as assigned

 Kennel Technician needed for Harris County! 1- opening

SCHEDULE:Monday – Saturday ( Day Shift ) 
PAY RATE:$13.00 P/H
LOCATION:North Houston

​Must have a High school diploma or GED.

PER OUR CLIENT  ( CANDIDATES WITH CRIMINAL HISTORY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPENING ) 
Under the supervision of the Kennel Supervisor, the Animal Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing animal holding areas as required. Counsel citizens interested in pet adoptions or searching for lost pets. Assist in photographing animals. Data entry of animal and citizen information. Participates in various educational programs. This position will witness and assist with humane euthanasia of animals, however contract employees do not perform euthanasia. 
ANIMAL CARE
1. Responsible for the daily feeding and watering of all animals in the shelter. All animals in the shelter are fed and given water twice a day and as needed.
2. Humanely transports animals from unloading area and reception area to assigned pens. Assist animal control officers with unloading their trucks as well as intaking animals from the front

EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

HARRIS COUNTY IS LOOKING FOR EQUIPMENT OPERATORS/DRIVERS.

Hours: 40 hours per week, as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:     
-High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
-One year of road and bridge experience preferred
-Valid Texas Driver’s License is required
Pay Rate: $14.00 - $16.00 ph.

Part time Pet Surrender Counselor Needed for Harris County! 1- opening

SCHEDULE: Part time  ( Day Shift ) 
PAY RATE: $25.00 P/H
LOCATION: North Houston
Work Schedule: This is a part-time position (20 hrs/wk), off days will be Wednesdays and Sundays. Work hours will be 1:00p-5:00p for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and Saturday.

Harris County Animal Shelter (HCAS) is implementing a Pet Retention & Case Management Program to help pet owners keep animals in their homes, preventing surrender to the shelter.

As a key part of this program, the Pet Surrender Prevention Counselor will serve as an on-site case manager at the shelter and is primarily responsible for providing information about Harris County Animal Shelter (HCAS) surrender policy, pet care, and available resources, as well as performing intake of animals, lost pet assistance and pet adoptions.

By meeting one-on-one with individuals seeking to surrender their animals, the Pet Surrender Prevention Counselor will complete a needs assessment to determine the challenges preventing owners from retaining pets safely in their homes.

Required:

•Master's Degree in Social Work or related field with license preferred or eligibility to acquire licensure

•Two years of post-Masters social work experience

•Must have strong interpersonal and crisis intervention skills with an emphasis on short term assessment and crisis management, conflict resolution and an understanding of the human-animal bond.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform job duties in a positive, helpful manner. Provide exceptional customer service and represent HCAS in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers, and staff.
· Meet one-on-one with individuals seeking to surrender their animals to complete a needs assessment to determine the challenges preventing owners from retaining pets safely in their homes.
· Assist the public in all aspects of shelter programs and share information to enhance the public’s knowledge of animal welfare as well as their knowledge of HCAS mission, programs and resources.
· Coordinate and supervise social work interns.
· Schedule intake appointments.
· Assist customers both in person, on the telephone, and via email, offering information and resources relevant to each customer’s specific needs.
o Evaluate, triage, and check in animals using the HCAS admission guidelines.
· Enter accurate animal information into the shelter database (Chameleon).
· Assist with animal redemption, lost and found services, referrals to other agencies and services and suggestions to facilitate positive relationships between clients and their pets.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
