Information Booth Attendant needed for Harris County  $13.00/hr - 1 opening
PER OUR CLIENT  ( CANDIDATES WITH CRIMINAL HISTORY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPENING ) 

Under the Supervision of the Office Manager, the Information Booth Attendant (IBA) is responsible for monitoring visitors to shelter, customer service, educating the public about rabies epidemiology, the leash law and responsible pet ownership.


  • Working hours:  Monday – Friday 10:30 a – 6:30 p and Sat & Sun 8:30 a – 4:30 pm
  • PAY RATE: $13.00 P/H
  • LOCATION: North Houston
  • Must have a High school diploma or GED.


Job Duties 
Provides information regarding Harris County leash laws, rabies, animal safety and responsible pet ownership.
Provides complete/accurate information to visitors requesting routine zoonotic disease information and refers public to appropriate agency when necessary.
Has basic knowledge concerning rabies in domestic and wild animals.
Greets citizens in a processional and courteous manner.
Must be able to answer basic questions regarding Harris County VPH services.
Training and education on rabies, the leash law and responsible pet ownership will be provided. ​

Job Duties:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, climb ladders, stairs, drive and flag traffic for an extended period of time for special events
Adequate physical stamina and ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Ability to work in inclement weather and confined areas
Ability to rake, shovel, dig, cut, clear, and or hand clear an area
Ability to work around heavy equipment
Ability to maintain and operate light equipment (chainsaws, pole saws, mowers, mechanical cutters, drive a typical pickup-automatic/standard)
Perform daily maintenance of assigned equipment
Ability to handle materials (mulch, dirt, gravel, cleaners, asphalt, oils, etc.)
Pick up trash and litter, empty trash cans, maintain & clean restrooms and various park buildings
Prepare parks and pavilions for events (set up, clean & take down chairs & tables)
Possibly participate in Inmate and Community Service Program (monitoring work details as assigned)
Perform all jobs in a safe and timely manner
Arrive to work on time
Perform other duties as assigned

 Kennel Technician needed for Harris County! 3- opening

SCHEDULE:Monday – Saturday ( Day Shift ) 
PAY RATE:$13.00 P/H
LOCATION:North Houston

​Must have a High school diploma or GED.

PER OUR CLIENT  ( CANDIDATES WITH CRIMINAL HISTORY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPENING ) 
Under the supervision of the Kennel Supervisor, the Animal Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing animal holding areas as required. Counsel citizens interested in pet adoptions or searching for lost pets. Assist in photographing animals. Data entry of animal and citizen information. Participates in various educational programs. This position will witness and assist with humane euthanasia of animals, however contract employees do not perform euthanasia. 
ANIMAL CARE
1. Responsible for the daily feeding and watering of all animals in the shelter. All animals in the shelter are fed and given water twice a day and as needed.
2. Humanely transports animals from unloading area and reception area to assigned pens. Assist animal control officers with unloading their trucks as well as intaking animals from the front

Veterinary Techs needed for Harris County! 3- opening

Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Location: Houston, Tx 77076
Schedule: 40 hours a week

Must have a High school diploma or GED.

The Veterinary Technician participates in clinical and animal care activities that support the HCPHES VPH pet adoption program.
Implements strategies to increase the “Leave Alive” rate as assigned. Also serves as support to other sections as needed.
Assists veterinarian with surgery, including sterilization of instruments and surgical area, animal prep and monitoring of vital signs; monitors post-operative recovery and reports changes in condition.

  • Responsible for cleaning surgical areas, maintaining surgical equipment and sterilizing instruments.
  • Using protocols responsible for the safe induction of anesthesia, monitors animals while under anesthesia and during recovery.
  • Routinely evaluates health and temperament of sheltered animals and advises the veterinarian and/or the kennel supervisor as appropriate.
  • Administers prescribed medications as directed and administers vaccinations per VPH protocols.
  • Creates and updates medical records as appropriate.
  • Perform physical exams on animals including a variety of animal health procedures encompassing diagnostic laboratory tests, administration of medications, and assisting with or performing medical treatments.
  • Responsible for routinely performing an inventory of veterinary drugs & vaccines and reporting results to the
  • Responsible for accurate data entry of information into the shelter database.
  • Current registration in the State of Texas a Registered Veterinary Technician is highly desirable
  • At least 2 year of directly related experience functioning as a veterinary technician working in shelter medicine, spay/neuter/wellness clinic, or private veterinary practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a Plus.
